As I listen to editors talk about their jobs, there are a few reoccurring themes. I have heard about branding your magazine, developing digital platforms and creating personal experiences (all of which are very important) but one theme continues to stick out in my mind and that is telling stories. Editors must understand how communicate stories even if they are not the people writing them. It goes back to the basics of journalism and the core of the magazine industry.
My concept is one day, one story.
Stories don’t have to be epic tales of princes and kings, they don’t have to be about rare moments or once in a life time opportunities. Stories happen everyday so everyday I am going to tell a story.
