Out of the South and into the City

Bands and Bites

Thanks to social media, I was able to reconnect with one of my friends from Miami University, Traci Kim. She has been in New York for the past week and saw on facebook that I was here too. I walked out of my last meeting at 6:30 and made my way towards Grand Central Station.

Central Station is a fascinating place. If you arrive via subway, you emerge from this gritty, dirty, underground cave into a beautiful and polished world. My favorite part about passing through Grand Central is the atmosphere between the subway platforms and the stairs leading into to the shiny space above. This is the best place to find performers. Every time I walk through this area, there has been someone that has caught my eye. Today was no different. In fact, today i came across one of my favorite performances so far. I love when bands incorporate string instruments with rock or pop music and this band did a great job doing just that.

Click here to see a video I took of the band.

Traci and I grabbed a bit to eat at a small sushi restaurant. It was great to hear about everyone at Miami and reminisce on the early days of college. It’s amazing how much we have matured.
