Right now I am working on my first workshop assignment. I am reading through an interview with Elizabeth Gilbert on her cookbook, At Home on the Range. My task is to turn seven pages of interview notes into a 350 word article aimed towards a typical GQ reader. Did I mention my workshop is being taught by Michael Hainey, Deputy Editor of GQ?
The book is a combination of stories and recipes from Gilbert’s great-grandmother. From the interview, it sounds fantastic. There are some great quotes about her family, rules for house guests (like no guests of guests allowed) and other funny comments on food and drinks.
